Our Story
More Than a Marketing Company
Unbuntutopia was founded in July 2018 during my sophomore year of college, but the idea behind it began much earlier.
As a child, I was deeply inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu—"I am because we are." Although I didn't fully understand its significance at the time, the message stayed with me. I created the name Unbuntutopia as a personal reminder that success should never exist in isolation. Every opportunity, every lesson, and every achievement is connected to the people and communities around us.
Over time, that childhood idea evolved into something much bigger than a business. It became a philosophy for how I approach work, relationships, and growth.
Today, that same belief continues to guide everything we do.
Our Journey
Unbuntutopia has grown alongside my career, with every chapter adding a new perspective that shapes how we serve clients today.
My professional journey began as a personal assistant supporting business owners and festival event managers. Those early experiences taught me how organizations operate behind the scenes and the importance of adaptability, organization, and trust. From there, I moved into executive support, branding, production management with a nonprofit theater company, studio management for small businesses, digital media, and eventually strategic communications and research within higher education.
Looking back, none of those experiences were random.
Each role introduced new tools, new industries, and new ways of solving problems. Every lesson became part of the foundation of Unbuntutopia.
Today, our work blends strategy, communications, creative storytelling, research, and digital innovation. It’s not because we set out to offer every service imaginable, but because years of hands-on experience showed us that organizations need integrated solutions, not isolated deliverables.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Tyia Morgan
I've spent my career asking questions, solving problems, and connecting ideas that don't always seem related at first. Whether I'm developing a communications strategy, facilitating research, improving internal workflows, or helping organizations tell their story, my favorite part of the work is understanding why people do what they do.
I'm naturally curious about entrepreneurs and organizational leaders—their motivations, their challenges, and the communities they hope to serve. People often come to me when they need a different perspective, someone to help untangle a complicated problem, or simply to ask, "Is this possible?"
I believe good ideas become great when they're shared, challenged, and refined together. Because at the heart of Unbuntutopia is the same belief that inspired its name years ago:
When one of us grows, we all have the opportunity to grow together.
